Friday has become the day I look back at my week and notice the positive events that made me smile. And since today is Friday, here’s what made me happy:
1) I watched a great Netflix movie on Sunday. The Seagull’s Laughter is a delightfully entertaining film. The fashions the main character wears throughout the movie are 1940’s chic and the Icelandic landscape is beautifully rugged and dramatic. Put this one in your queue and let me know if you agree.
2) Since early February, I’ve been searching for this book that a friend told me about. I wasn’t prepared to spend the $20+ most sites were asking, so I decided to wait it out.
Imagine my enormous delight when I won it on Ebay for ONE PENNY! When it arrived, I was surprised to find it in practically new condition.
According to Trinny and Susannah, I am a Vase as I’m too long waisted to be a true hourglass. I’m good with that. I like being a vase, as long as it’s pronounced ‘vaahhzz’.
We are still trying to figure out what shape Tori is. We looked at the book together and I must say it was a bit uncomfortable reading the characteristics with a 16 year old when the word “tits” is used for each and every description.
“Let’s see, er..do you have small ti, I mean breasts and wide hips? Or big, uh, ya know, boobs and slim thighs?” I know it’s a cultural thing, but UGH! We Americans are much more comfortable with the term “boobs”, and I suppose much more uptight as well.
3) We received a phone call from a friend of ours last night offering us his two tickets to a local Spring time barrel tasting event that they are unable to attend. It is a generous gift as tickets are $65 per person at the door! We happily accepted the tickets since we had zero going on this weekend.
Stay tuned for forthcoming photos from the event!
4) The gorgeous Aesthetic Alterations wears a super chic leather headband that I’ve been admiring for months. Look how stylish she is wearing hers.
Since I also have long hair, I thought I’d hunt for my own black leather (or faux leather) headband. I looked diligently online, but never took the plunge. All the headbands I like are $50+. And I’m not sure I’ll take to wearing one consistently.
So I’m at CVS Wednesday buying cotton balls, and I just happened to check out the hair accessory aisle. I found a leather or leather-looking black braided headband marked down 75% for…..$1.62!
I’m so excited about this purchase. It made my Wednesday. I think I may wear it to the barrel tasting this weekend.

on the positive in our own lives,
even if it’s a small as a $1.62 hair accessory or a good movie.
