Welcome to How I Wear My: White!
This is the 34th installment in the How I Wear My series.
Can you believe it’s already August? It seems like no color is more beloved in the hotter months than white. Jill of Everything Just So and I wanted to devote this month’s “How I Wear My” to one of the most popular shades of the season.
Let’s get How I Wear My White started with Jill of Everything Just So who is looking vibrant and chic in Old Navy white jeans, L’Wren Scott sunglasses, and an Anne Touraine silk chiffon polka dot stole. Jill says, “It’s a gorgeous shade of blue that goes so well with white. It’s the perfect lightweight summer scarf.”
Nicole of High Latitude Style says this of her fashion-forward white look: “My style is classic with a twist. I love sleek, zippers, large bags and high heels. This outfit is so me: edgy, ladylike, nerdy, and fun.”
Deja of Une Femme d’un Certain Age looks like a Hollywood movie star in her white look. She tells us, “Living in Southern California, white jeans have become a summer staple, but this year (inspired by Emmanuelle Alt) I plan to wear mine into the fall and winter too.”
Alice of Happiness at Mid-Life looks stylish and cool in her white outfit. She says: “I love pairing whites with other neutrals like gray and tan for a clean look. The use of a texture open knit sweater adds some interest to the outfit.”
Merci Jowi of Chic on Thrift wears a classic white blouse, ideal for summer. She tells us, “this theme came at a time when I had just made a pure white purchase, the blouse. Being lacking in the whites department, I borrowed the white shoes to complete the look. And the skirt is swirly, I keep wanting the wind to blow my way!”
Dawn Lucy of Fashion Should Be Fun shows us the romantic side of white and tells us, “I put this together for my beach cottage vacation. It’s a flowy cotton skirt with a white open weave sweater over a tank, a straw tote bag and neutral wedge sandals.”
Cynthia of My Rose Colored Shades looks stunning in head-to-toe white. She has this to say about her outfit: “All-white looks are so chic and cool in the summer. And there’s no better way to elevate an all-white look than to add gold accents.”
Lisa of Privilege shows us a sporty summer look and says, “Given that I spend much of my time in flannel pajama bottoms, writing, or in my son’s old clothes, gardening, I have a special fondness for strategies that style up comfort. Monochroming (which isn’t a word, but hey) is a great trick. All white is best of all, helping me feel dressed when I’m really only one step away from Crocs and Jams.”
Ana of Mrs. American Made looks feminine and elegant in her white look. She says, “I like to wear white when I have some color and I like to wear it one piece at a time. For instance, I have this amazing white Love..Ady blazer that I wear over many Spring and Summer outfits. Here I am wearing it with a Nanette Lepore black skirt and a floral print top by Dolan, all made in America.”
Linda of A Labour of Life looks ready for some summer fun in her white and black maxi dress. She tells us, “It wasn’t until I saw this that I realized I have not worn a lot of white this year. I think I wore more white in the winter. My white is usually found in a sweater or a tank for the summer months or mixed with a pattern as it is here with this black and white patterned dress.”
Sheree of It’s Not That Deep wears her white casually for summer in this eye-catching street style look. She tells us, “The dress is thrifted and those are Levi’s cutoffs underneath”
Elsie of The Cooking Wardrobe wears white with a gray pencil skirt and flats, a great look for the office or running errands. She says, “You could not have chosen a better color, white goes well with anything and everything!”
Helen of Valley of the Shoes wears a vibrant red and white look. She tells us, “This outfit features my my obsession with embroidered pieces this summer. I love this embroidered shift dress because it’s so easy to wear and it reminds me of our vacations in Mexico. White is the perfect backdrop for the colorful embroidery. Fun and festive for sure!”
Tamera of Tamera Beardsley wears her whites with neutrals. She says, “Wearing whites and creams are a wardrobe staple for me here in Southern California, winter or summer. This year my white Tory Burch blazer has become one of my very favorite go to pieces! I just love how a blazer can feel like wardrobe armor – a little boost of confidence and protection – all wrapped up in the wearing of a jacket!”
Jan of Fort Smith Stylista looks elegant and fresh in her eyelet dress and says, “I thought I wouldn’t manage a LWD (little white dress) this summer, but I came upon this eyelet embroidery cotton sundress from Crown & Ivy. It was deeply discounted and in my size, so how could I not bring it home? I wear cool white with fear and trepidation, almost always. But I had fun with this Mod-feeling little dress and added coral shoes and a very summery cork bag with just a little pink gold on my wrist to jazz it up just a bit.”
Kim of Northern California Style is head-to-toe chic in her cool California look. She says, “I’m wearing my favorite three whites: my James Perse button-up and tank with my 7 white jeans, and my Panama Hat from the Montecristi Panama Hats. My nude flower flip-flops are from J. Crew many years ago and my tote is from Tory Burch Fall collection. I love white because it adds light to the face which is great on everyone!”
Trina of Tea Time With Trina wears an all white look, ideal for summer. She says, “Wearing white during the summer months is a serious staple of mine. I find it to be refreshing, cool, and quite classic all packaged together. I throw this ensemble on whenever I go out to lunch with a group of friends or shopping for the day or business meetings with hubby. The white blazer is perfect for the air conditioned buildings. The oversized black and white bag with black shoes gives it just the right edge.”
Malia of Style by Malia tells us, “I wear white to make a statement when everyone else is wearing black. This skirt is from Own Something Exclusive, a small line company that makes African print clothing made in Africa. The top is by Ashley Stewart.”
Amy of Denim and Dots wears white to go out on the town in New York City. She says, “I’ve been wanting to do an all-white outfit for a while now, and think the best way to do it is with different textures. So I paired my white jeans with a silky blouse, and then added some pops of citrus color with my bracelet and necklace.”
Gracey of Fashion for Giants adds a fun floral pattern to her white vest. She tells us, “I found the pants in Burlington Coat Factory and thought they would pair great with my draped ASTR vest.”
Nora of Jacket Society enjoys the beautiful beaches of Los Angeles in this stylish white outfit. She tells us, “The white jacket and shorts is from my new blog story this week “A day at Paradise Cove Beach Malibu.” I am wearing a white cotton eyelet lace blazer – my own design – with jean shorts, a tank top and gladiator sandals.
Silk Path Diary looks classically elegant in her white outfit. She tells us, “Nothing much can beat a classic white shirt! I’ve had this one by Burberry for at least a decade and it still retains its crispness. I love wearing it knotted at the waist like this.”
I love my white linen slacks from Banana Republic. I wore them with an ecru tank, black blazer and peep-toe booties to San Francisco last Sunday.
I was relieved my slacks are lined because it was a chilly, foggy, and windy day in the city and I managed to stay warm while still looking summery.
